The Christ Turn the Other Cheek Nonsense

The Christ Turn the Other Cheek Nonsense

That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also

Matthew 5:38–5:42 KJV

And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other

—Luke 6:27–31 KJV

Christian anarchist interpretation[]

Since the passages call for total nonresistance to the point of facilitating aggression against oneself, and since human governments defend themselves by military force, this has led some into Christian anarchism, including the notable Russian novelist Leo Tolstoy, author of the nonfiction book The Kingdom of God Is Within You.

New International Version
But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.

New Living Translation
But I say, do not resist an evil person! If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also.

King James Bible
But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

International Standard Version
But I tell you not to resist an evildoer. On the contrary, whoever slaps you on the right cheek, turn the other to him as well.
NET Bible
But I say to you, do not resist the evildoer. But whoever strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other to him as well.
Aramaic Bible in Plain English
But I am saying to you, you shall not rise up against an evil person, but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him also the other

GOD'S WORD® Translation
But I tell you not to oppose an evil person. If someone slaps you on your right cheek, turn your other cheek to him as well.

Weymouth New Testament
But I tell you not to resist a wicked man, but if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other to him as well.

5:38-42 The plain instruction is, Suffer any injury that can be borne, for the sake of peace, committing your concerns to the Lord's keeping.

This is utterly stupid and it is not clear how many times you will be supposed to turn the other cheek when you are slapped? Would you like to be slapped on public and you turn the other cheek?

Why Jesus all, all the time vague in his sayings?

I am and the father one? Why this character did not say I am God to make everybody easily understand? A clown?

What will happen if you were slapped on the left cheek. This is not stated.

How about if one slaps hard and break your jaw?

What is the wisdom of this command?

Any feeling you are humiliated when you are slapped on the other cheek which makes it you been slapped two times?

If no body is known to turn the other cheek to be slapped again then this commandment is pure nonsense and worthless.
